The purpose of this program is to train or retrain workers in basic rigging safety. This is an appropriate course for electricians and millwrights.This course provides a hands-on demonstration, a test to confirm competency and certification on successful completion. During the course participants will gain an understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Industrial and Construction Regulations.

Topics covered in this course are:

  1. Understanding the Act and Industrial and Construction Regulations specific to Rigging
  2. Explain Competent Worker under the O.H.S. Act, and regulations
  3. Purpose of training is to train and refresh principles of basic fundamentals of rigging
  4. Review Reg.51 explaining the need for lifting equipment to be checked and certified yearly
  5. Discuss appropriate crane and hoist hand signals from the Technical Standards Division, Ontario
  6. Have worker demonstrate hands-on training using slings and tying common knots used in rigging
  7. Film – Inspection, Care and Storage of Slings
  8. Exam and certification

Note that Marin & Associates recommends that this program should be retaken every two years
